in my late teens, early 20s, i read a shitload of xanth and gor novels. this really pisses off. on the other hand all the destroyer (probably the first 75-80) and executioner (only the first 41, after that I got out quick!) books i read around the same time, i'm pretty pleased with.

did you ever get sucked into a huge series of books

Yes, embarrassingly I did. The Sweet Dreams books and Sweet Valley High books. My friends and I would swap them around and we were ravenous in our reading. It took reading over 300 or so books before I realised that I was never going to be like the girls in those books and thank goodness because those girls were stupid.

I think that's a teen thing though, isn't it? You get obsessed with things and you have no off switch to the obsession.
