Try listening to the Sounds, they're a sweedish indie band but they sound like an indie combination of abba and rush. You're in the know tho, so i'm not sure if there's a stigma attatched or whatever, but they're good for dancing around your apartment in your socks and undies.
I actually checked them out back in 2003(haha! oh look at me so snobby!). I had Matt at School Kids order Living in America for me. I liked it alright and I still like the song "Rock n' Roll" but in the end I sold the album. The fact that they put a photo of Princess Coldstare and her long-maned coke buddy on their newest album cover totally turned me off to it.
I miss my dance-rock days sometimes, but I think that time has come and gone.
i'm glad you liked my o'neill ravings, and i'm glad you like Peggy Lee! Did you listen to Diane Rehm this morning? Fascinating stuff. Although at one point, i just kept picturing PJ Harvey's video for Is That All There Is? and remembering how much her videos scared me on 120 minutes in middle school before i could identify their emotional content, which didn't have much to do with Peggy. I bet that guy's book is fucking great, though.
I did hear Diane Rehm! It made me really excited to read that book. Peggy Lee is always a staple on "Ladies" mixes I make of soul/motown/jazz/pop stuff.
It's really great for driving around at sunset with the windows rolled all the way down (what we did after we bought it). I really love "goin' against your mind" and "liar." It does get a little jammy for me at times but it's not totally obnoxious.

They do a glorified night after night ballad version which is very queen-esq but not really.
