Give me a Team 7 blueberry pie. And recs, among other things.

I haven’t been on LJ for a month due to personal reasons, but during that time, I’ve been reading. Books, physics guides, doujin, medical texts, wiki pages on Japanese cultures, and fanfiction.

Especially fanfiction.

Fandom, why so complicated? D: )

fanfiction, fanfiction recs, fandom: naruto, fandom, fic search, help!, absence, character: sasuke, fic, announcement, flist, character: naruto, discussion, character: sakura, fanfiction: au

SO HAVE I PIMPED THIS AT YOU? CAUSE YOU SAID YOU WANTED VAGUELY JAPANESE HISTORICAL.

I wrote this... a while ago, for the Naruto AU anon meme, and it is nowhere near any sort of historically accurate. It's only vaguely SasuSaku, but considering it's me who wrote it you can go ahead and read that into the fic anyways? I might continue it at some point, but for now, meh.

I also wrote this, which is vaguely fantasy. It's extraordinarily disjointed (considering it's at a halfway point through the supposed story?), Sakura is wildly out of character, and it's currently being rewritten as an original piece. BUT, UHH, Y'KNOW. IT'S FANTASY.

... sorry I don't have any real recs that aren't pimping my own stuff, hahaha.

OH god, araine, I've read the title - The Legend of the Crossdressing Samurai Sakura - and ffff---- I cannot wait to read it. Expect an anon review from me in an hour, darling. <333

And I've only skimmed over the summary for your fantasy piece: a world where the Sharingan, Byakugan and Rinnengan are all jewels of immense power, Naruto is the future king, Neji is an amnesiatic swordsman, Hinata is a priestess, Sakura and Ino are assassins and Sasuke and his posse are all pirates! - Amnesiatic swordsmen? Pirates? OH god YES. <3 I love the premise, bb~ To be honest I've had this idea for a SasuSaku fantasy, too, for a while, based on the game Knight of Lodis but this is more awesome than that wisp of an idea could ever hope to be~

My connection goes out in half a day or so. SO, BRB/SAVING!♥

And. Where have you been? Why have you not been writing lately? How much have you watched of Wolf's Rain? It's like you just disappeared for a while~ RL, I'm assuming. :'(

I can't say anything about SasuNaru but you are right about SasuSaku worshippers. Sad to say, it is indeed one of my guilty pleasures. XD

I can't recommend any fics to you that I think you haven't read but I dunno. I'll keep an eye out.

Well, I take that back. Have you read "Criminally Insane" by GoodbyeFeist? It's pretty twisty. Incomplete though.

No, I haven't read Criminally Insane - I've never even heard of it. But I've read a bit of the prologue and was hooked from the first line - oh god. I'm deeply ashamed to consider myself a fan of this pairing. How come I had never heard of this fic before? I don't need to read all of it to know it's going to be great~

And also: I think I might love you a litte! You gave me angst, my first love, and supernatural, something I'm always eager for! Thanks~

Speaking of supernatural, I was wondering if you had read Die, Everyone's Doing It by allurement? All her fics are worth a look - it's not technically SasuSaku, since it's narrated by Kiba but I think you'll like it! I've never seen anyone nail Kiba's voice as well as she has♥

Criminally Insane is severely under-appreciated but I've probably contributed to that problem by not leaving a review for the new chapters lol.

"You gave me angst, my first love, and supernatural"-- did you read something I wrote? Which one? Hahaha.

I haven't read Die, Everyone's Doing It but I did read allurement's Smear it Splendid. Thanks for the rec! I have it opened up in another tab right now.

Also, your anonymous commenter has some fics I read too. The Curse may be something you want to check out (it's pretty good and written like a horror film). Personally, I like Iseki for it's AU elements.

Huh? That's so strange~ O__O I hadn't read something like that from you. I just... said what came to mind. To think-- lol! XD

allurement's Smear it Splendid is amazing - anything by her usually is♥

I've read The Curse by Len83 as well - to be honest, I've been reading this author since... I don't even know how long. Since she was writing in the Inuyasha fandom - I found The Lord and the Leader to be very well-done, even if the length did get a bit tedious at times. It was quite the pleasant surprise when she started venturing into the Naruto fandom :D

I remember skimming through Isekai and not being impressed with at all - the AU elements are nice, but I found both Sasuke and Sakura two-dimensional, and the OCs simply felt like plot devices. (But maybe that's just my dislike for OCs talking It takes a lot to get me to like an OC). There wasn't anything wrong with the writing to be honest - it... was just below my extremely picky standards ( ... )

This is my standard fanfic rec for Naruto fandom because it's plot-driven, well-written, and has fairly broad appeal. And if you like good angsty SasuSaku interaction, there's plenty of that, too. It's a WIP that was started in 2008, so you might have already read it, but just in case you haven't: White Rain by zapenstap.

Ah, thank you~ But I had already read White Rain, actually. I agree with pretty much everything you have to say about it - the SasuSaku isn't the main focus, which (as strange as it may sound) is why I love this fic so much. Something about the way zapenstap writes SasuSaku is just so, so unforced - because she doesn't try to force it at all! It has that natural "It just happens" feel that I love so much~ :D

I might have to go save it, if I haven't already~ Thank you so much for reminding me.

Just passing through and thought you might have some Sasusaku fic recs that I haven't read yet. Sadly you didn't. I would have loved to find more good quality Sasusaku fics to read ( ... )

Thank you so much for the list~ There are a few I recognise and a few I don't, but they sound promising. Will be saving the ones I haven't read - Neck was a quick, pleasant read. :D

I have nothing useful to give you, really, but I would like to say that I think you are awesome! It gets a little depressing how so many people get all worked up about 'of course only this interpretation is good, everything else is wrong and it offends me that people believe and write otherwise, how dare they!' (Haha I am not concise today, it seems.)

I've moved into the D.Gray-man fandom these last few years, and watching the same stuff happen all over again in a different community is a little depressing. The D.Gray-fandom is still small and civil enough that fans of less popular ships are fairly cool-headed, but I keep coming across people (slash fans in particular) who rant about pairing Y/X writers having the nerve to use the ship portmanteau that 'should only be' for the (more popular) pairing X/Y, or about someone else writing pairing Z/X when clearly character X would never be with character Z ('he belongs to character Y!') and besides, 'character X would never be on the bottomIt's a bit exhausting just looking at all that ( ... )

Ohhh! You're moved into DGM? O__O That's great! I love that fandom<33 even though Kanda's fantastic hair is the main reason for my obsession There are some seriously amazing fics out there - and what I love most is that the manga gives writers the opportunity to describe real places~ The setting of the story itself brings a whole other dimension to the writing. Um. ANYWAY.

I suppose wank is unavoidable in every fandom, then? We just have to embrace the good along with the bad - but. But. It's... just really hard sometimes, especially when you end up getting our feelings hurt. The seme-uke shit though is something that should never have existed in the first place - I find that there a distantly sexist plane attached to the "reasons" people provide for who "tops" or who "bottoms".

but wouldn't their time be better spent glorifying their favourite things rather than attacking someone else's favourite things? - I wonder that, too. All these quarrels between people who're supposed to be brought together by the manga they love - I just ( ... )
