wow..i didn't know you knew Kai! Great guy....really enjoy talking with him, he helped me, unknowingly, in my mental/emotional state a lot during my break-up.
if/when you get over here to Austin, you will have to let us know.. or perhaps I will bump into ya on the playa! ;) India is a big draw for me as well, esp. Goa, since I spin Goa trance (go figure) and really dive into that spiritual style as well....good luck with that plan!
yay for playa! hope i do bump into you there. i know i should tame my expections, but dammit, i am excited. i don't have specific plans for austin -- probably post-playa. will post when i know more.
Sound kinda short to me. It's 1.5 days just to fly there, probably another day by bus to where you'd want to end up. And in all liklihood you'd spend 2 days jetlagging. And that doesn't include getting back... :|
Awww! My piquito corizone melted when I saw your picture. Cool that you´ve "come out" on LJ. :-)
OK, here´s what I´m currently learning in Argentina, and have relearned many times in the past. (I´m slow!) You can wait years for the "big one", the multi-year or multi-month trip. Or you can fill those years with little 10-15 day jaunts. These little jaunts have filled my life with perspective and lively new brain food. They´ve also allowed me to glimpse many other lands and peoples across a spectrum. I´m very happy with my short trips of the past, and I´m loving my time here in Argetina. It´s not quite the same as a longer trip, but there will be time for that again one day too. I say go for it. I´ve already been inspired in many ways and met several fascinating people with whom I could converse at length- the heart of new cultural understanding.

aw, well, now you're talkin'... ;]
you're right though, having people there who know the ropes is huge and tough to pass up. go for it.
just be prepared for travel into less-populous areas to be reeeally slow.
