Took my first Aikido class last week (rock!), and solidified a new friendship. Starting to cut my teeth on the SSL (which is the imperial star destroyer of recording consoles). I am starting to feel slightly more like myself again, which is a great relief. It's still impossible to feel like nothing's happened, and ridiculous to act like it. I'm still hurting immeasurably, but am starting to heal. At least the relief of routine will be carrying me soon ( Read more... )

I'm considering taking a near-suicidal number of credits in the fall. (There are some reasons that this might be a necssary evil.) My instincts are that I could handle it, as I'm pretty engaged and organized these days, but on paper it looks pretty ludicrous. I just ordered a bunch of records I can't afford, which is my pre-gig (NYC party 08/07) paranoid/preparatory "I don't have any good music" routine. As per usual, I'm generally conflicted about the whole dj thing. i'm currently in a down cycle as far as my concern with current events goes. it's easier to turn off NPR in the morning and put on some music, i spend less time on NYT and more time following the TourDF & NBA free agency. it's less stressful. i'm currently apathetically treading water until November, or perhaps the 2012 discontinuity in the Mayan ( Read more... )
