ooh interesting - so you just move the ball thingy, not the mouse itself?

might be a tad frustrating having different way of doing things at work and home though...hmm

Did it take long to get used to using?

Put a donk on it!

My mouse lights up and changes colours. I'm probably not much help...

Most of the wireless ones (like your example) use a USB connection instead of the old-style PS/2 round connector that older mice have. You'll therefore need a spare USB port, so check that you've got one!

I think I've currently got a USB one, but I'll double check, thanks :)

My Logitech MX700 wireless optical gaming mouse has lasted me since 2002 (I say having checked the date stamped on it). I hear good things about the other Logitech gaming mice regarding reliability and precision. I shall weep hard and long when mine eventually dies. Perhaps I should give it a custom paint job since I appear to have worn out the surfaces and markings quite badly now.

I have an MX1000 and I also will weep when it finally dies... it's an order of magnitude nicer to use than almost any other mouse I've tried. My dad used mine for 30 seconds not long after I bought it, and he went out and bought one for himself the day after.

I'm not sure they make the MX1000 any more, but anything from near the top end of Logitech's cordless range would seem to be the way forward.

I would say also that getting a low friction, textured mousepad specifically for optical mice makes the experience very silky smooth. They cost a tenner but the skid pads on the bottom of my mouse have only just started to wear thin.

Good to hear it wasn't just my experiences of Logitech mice being good. I shall definitely replace my mouse with another Logitech when it dies.

((Btw, the Logitech G15 gaming keyboard is also fabulous. The keys light up so you can type in the dark. The old one with the blue lights, not the newer orange one which I hear has less functionality))
