I know the feeling was alone in our house in Ireland for 3 days by myself because I flew ahead of everyone else.
We had a plastic bag stuffed up the chimney full of hay to keep the birds out and it woke me up constantly rustling and sounding like someone was in the house. Finally ended up yanking it down in annoyance and slept better afterward and I was no longer as freaked out.
Thanks. The music is helping some. Having nothing happen after a little bit of time helps too. At least there aren't any creepy sounds right now, just normal ones.
Argh! I used to do the same thing when I lived in those apartments! But the closets aren't THAT big, right? I think someone would really have to work to fit into one, and it would be impossible to do it quietly.
Having a pet really helped me with that- weird noises? It's just Mo! Even if it wasn't, I always felt better having something to blame them on. :P
ooo... I HATE that feeling. Which is why I live with CJ now. Although he does his damndest to leap out at me from dark corners so... not much different.
I would have to agree with other commenters though... a pet probably would add some 'white noise' so the random sounds wouldn't be so creepy.
I remember that happening. I was upstairs in my room when I thought I heard the front door open and close. Being ever the paranoid person that I usually am, I went downstairs armed with a pool stick and a calculus book.
*shrugs* I just regret not putting my calculus book to good use that night. Instead, I slaved around three-fours hours of math homework. >
Yikes! Know the feeling too well...I did that one once and had to check the house for anything. Then there was the time where I heard a door shutting loudly on the hallways and since only my mom and I live here I had to go check it out. Trying to encourage myself with the butter knife I as holding in my hand.
