They have blood drives weekly at the hospital (imagine that), but with all the heavy lifting I do & how I don't ever have a 45-60 minute block free, I haven't been able to in a while. I miss it though, I'm good at it.
I have never gotten around to it because of tattoos and piercings like some of the other posters in here, but I seriously need to make that happen, especially because of my wonderful blood type. :P
I should modify that to say that I donate as often as I'm able when not pregnant, which hasn't been very often lately. I think I got one or two in between Catelyn and Peanut, but that was it. I feel obligated to a little more than some people I think because I'm O+ and a universal donor.
Same here, I'm O+ too! But I always thought O- was the universal donor, though I could be wrong. I'm planning to stop in today and give to try to get back into the habit. Do you know what type Catelyn is? My OB told me to ask at the hospital when she was born because they type all newborns in Ohio, though I'm not sure if they do in Portland. It's funny- Graham looks exactly like me, and we're both O+. Nora looks exactly like Brian, and they're both A+.
Anyway, I think pregnancy is one of the happiest reason to not be able to donate. That and tattoos. :P
I said that "it's been ages" because I had to stop when I got pregnant in December. I went every two months for a year, and I'm close to getting my 1 gallon pin. :) There's a "donate pints for half-pints" drive going on in July, and I'm a little sad I can't donate for that. I'll be donating regularly again when I'm medically cleared and have a good BFing relationship established. :)
Out here, Bonfils says it's every 8 weeks or so, and they have a blood drive at one of the buildings on the federal center every month, so I go every other month (when possible). :)

And yeah, I'm good at it too. Will you ever take blood? Like in training, not once you're done with school.
