We had Claudia's one year well baby visit today and found out that she is 33 inches tall! This amazes me because Costa is tall too, yet he was only 31 inches at one year old. Claudia started out one inch longer at birth than him, so that is still another inch faster that she grew in her first year than he did. For those of you not really ( Read more... ) -

I wonder if Claudia is cutting another tooth because she had one of those days. Fussy all the time unless she was doing something she wasn't supposed to be doing and then she was happy. Wanted to be held constantly but was not content just to sit here with me while I was on the computer, oh, no, she had to play with the mouth and keyboard too. ( Read more... ) -
more colors
Today we were at the grocery store checkout stand. Costa started playing with the candy. He's never eaten any, but brightly colored packages are still exciting! To keep him from causing too much trouble I started quizzing him about what colors the different candy bars were. Does anyone know if there is a specific birth defect that causes one of the eyes to be out of alignment? Costa made a friend at the library and she had one eye that was noticeably higher than the other and also a further distance from her nose than it should have been. Also, one of her forearms and hand was about half the size it should have been ( Read more... ) -

Had a pretty good Thanksgiving. Claudia got to try solids for the first time. She had some acorn squash and turkey. She seemed to really be enjoying having food even though she didn't eat that much. She'd mostly get a little squash on her hands and then suck on them like crazy ( Read more... ) -
teeth
Claudia is getting her first tooth (and possibly her second at the same time, not quite sure). This explains why she has been grumpy the last few days (though she had no other signs of teething so this caught me by surprise). So maybe she will be eating Thanksgiving dinner after all ( Read more... ) -

Costa definitely is viewing the world through a mother/baby lens. Not only do planets come in mother and baby sets, so do vegetables! This evening he was watching me chop an onion and then some garlic. He pointed to the garlic and declared "baby". I asked him about the onion, and as I had suspected, the onion had been designated as the "mama ( Read more... ) -
toddlers are silly
I was looking at a book with Costa that had a picture of the solar system. Costa points to Neptune, Uranus and Pluto and signs "baby". Then he let me know that Jupiter was "mama" and Saturn was "dada". I asked him about the sun, but that had him stumped. Oh, I also asked him about the first four planets; they're all babies too ( Read more... )
