hahahah got to love it, so huge and an eye sore. I miss you a lot too and I hope I meet some weird, funny people like ustoo, it just might take some time. I know you'll eventually find your niche, its harder because you are actually an individual and have facets about you that aren't stereotypical, you don't do things normal college kids do, you're smart, and your sense of humor is different. Don't settle for face friends (and I know you wont) because there ARE people out there that you will click with, its just harder on such a huge campus.
I went to a floor meeting and brought up the eyesore of a sign and some people were just like "If you have a problem with it maybe you shouldn't be on this floor." !!! I mean wtf, it's disgusting. Some girls came up to me AFTERwards and said they agreed with me. A lotta good that does us.
And I am giving it time. Luckily I know Pia and Heather and my roommate is really cool, so I'm not 100% alone. I know I can't expect a bustling social life from the get-go.
I've found a few people who if they can't quite grasp the humor yet...they at least find it amusing. So for the time being, I just make people laugh which is ok by me. Good luck Ashley. Will's right, I know you'll find some fucked up people soon. Just keep trying those books out on people. Sure, you'll send some people home completely offended but it's totally worth it once you find someone who laughs. We miss you here in the big OC -Nicole
I'm glad you found some people that can at least laugh. I'm having to watch myself soo closely; I can't even crack a Jew joke because like every other person here is Jewish, the campus is flooded by Jew organizations and kosher cookouts and stuff. I can't wait until I find someone who laughs at our stuff.
You want to know what? I teared up reading this, that's how lame I am. I tear up at a friend's eljay post. Haha, actually it's true because almost all of the things you said about your parents checking up and stuff is the exact same with me. I teared up when they left because my mom was and I hate seeing her cry, even just a little. Then when my dad called, oh forget it. He was just so nice and loving (not that he isn't usually, but you know what I mean?) and when he hung up it made me realize how much I truly missed them AND my friends at home

Y'know, it's really really comforting to see that I'm not the only person who's going through this stuff. It makes it a lot easier to deal and get past it. Have your classes started? Hopefully you'll meet some people that are very much unlike your roommates

I'm glad to hear life at UF is going good. I'm starting to cheer up here now classes are in session. I'm actually looking forward to learning stuff in my Engineering class, so I think I've made the right choice for a major. I've been hanging out with my roommate and some other kids, luckily my roomie and I get along really great, and I have a lot of the same people in my classes so I'll get to know them better too. And thanks for the offer on texting--I'll remember it.
