ok, so next saturday is my last day of work. i will get my last check the following friday. on this check is a barcode that contains my employee number, which can be used to get my discount.  beneath the barcode is a date, one week after the check is issued, when the barcode is no longer valid.  therefore, i have ( Read more... )

Did you have a barcode the instant you were hired? Because if you didn't then this is just making up for that lost time in the beginning before you got one of your paychecks/barcodes.

i think i got a barcode with my first check, which would've been a week after i started, but in theory i could've gotten my discount before then i think... but i didn't need it then since the store wasn't open and i could have all the free drinks i wanted.

It is not shady. And BN is a multi billion dollar company, I'm sure. They can handle it. I still use my marshalls discount and that was definately years ago.

they can totally handle it! i see no reason why i shouldn't get books for cheaper while i can, my little discount book spree is not gonna put them out of business, they'll still be making money, since i wouldn't be buying as many things if i was paying full price for them.

conclusion: jen is stupid and follows rules way too closely.
