Author’s Note: Written as my first entry into this year's round of spn_reversebang and inspired by expectative's shiny temptress of a prompt. This is probably not the story people expect from a prompt like the one I chose here, but I'll sell it to you the same way I sold it to expectative: the overlying theme of this fic is basically, "Jensen wants the D." You're welcome. If you are curious about the title, I owe it to 'Plato's Pharmacy,' by Jacques Derrida, officially making this (probably) the nerdiest fic title I have ever sunken to but it's perfect I'm not even sorry. A hundred million thank yous also need to go to yohkobennington because she beta'd this leviathan in one day and I kept her up until 5 a.m. What a saint. And the spn_reversebang mods who, bless their hearts, were super understanding when I had to ask for not one but TWO extensions because, funny story, I thought this story would be 14K, then DEFINITELY NOT MORE THAN 24K. I am bad at this.
Summary: AU: Jared is a farm hand, the sole breadwinner of a poor and growing family. When his brother steals an herb from a witch to save his sick wife, she curses the entire family, turning them into swans.
Jared returns home to find his family missing. The witch makes a deal with him: if he can knit six shirts out of poisonous nettles in three years and put one on each of his cursed relatives, it will break the spell. But Jared must also promise not to speak…which seemed like a pretty easy thing to do, until a beautiful prince stumbles upon him and takes him in. Basically, a J2 retelling of The Six Swans fairytale.
