I think social networks exacerbate the Bystander Effect.
They enable it, of course, but they make it worse because commenting/liking/poking/whatever makes people feel like they've actually done something when they really haven't. -

I finally got round to finishing Nation this weekend. It's very different to Pratchett's usual stuff (specifically, not Discworld, and not as funny) but definitely recommended. I haven't found a book so deeply satisfying for quite some time. -

Ow, my knees.
I think I've been trying to do too much too soon on the longboard, so I've been practicing simple things like balance, posture, turning and kicking off. I've been attempting to analyse each aspect so that I can tell what I need to do to get it right. Odd spelling.
Maybe this is a funny thing to bother me, but it really does get to me when people attempt to emulate speech patterns in text by inserting extra letters, but then choose the wrong letter ( Read more... ) -
Little things
I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but it's been bugging me for a while now - on the Livejournal login screen the tab order of the "Remember me" check box is so far down the list that it isn't practically feasible to use the keyboard to check it. I suspect this is because it's the only control on the page to actually have a "tabindex" ( Read more... ) -

Through the miracles of Facebook I managed to find a group of local(ish) longboarders who happened to be meeting up today in Greenwich park.
