It's almost as if the writers don't expect children to think.
They don't. Jude loved it, and he's not stupid. No matter how much we want children to operate on higher planes of intellect, honestly, you can keep them more amused for 2 hours with some flashing lights and a ridiculous villian than you can with War & Peace.
I agree, the plot was piss-weak. But I enjoyed it for the steampunk scenery and left it at that :)
