Imagine you had a favourite band, back when you were just out of your teens and seriously into music, back when everything didn't sound like a retread of the sixties or the eighties or whatever decade happened to be in vogue that nanosecond ( Read more... )

I've been playing the early albums again. Not sure if I have the courage to try the new release. I love the idea of it but dread the execution.

Apparently some of the album tracks are very good, even if the first single was a disappointment.

This speaks to me.

Sometimes the reviews are better than the albums. You're the greatest!

I was supposed to work at home tonight and I watched XF instead, which means I have to get up in six hours and work for three hours before work. It's like the old days.

I thought I was meh and done and it turns out I am very much not. I don't understand it.

Aww! This makes me think a bit more kindly about that terrible episode. Uh, even if that wasn't your intention.

And as for the founder's solo album for the upstart new label, which was GRITTY and DARK and had SWEARING and WASTED one of the most delightfully charming frontmen in the whole business by making him awful?

Wait, is this Millennium?

Not Millennium, which was meh to excellent depending on the episode. The After, which he made for Amazon, but which never got past the pilot. It was creepy. It had some interesting ideas but it wasn't very good in general. He wasted Aldis Hodge in a horrible role with no redeeming features. Unforgiveable.

(Pretty sure I wasn't going to forgive him anyway for the debacle of late-season mytharc episodes, but the failure just added schadenfreude-based lighter fuel to that particular pyre)

This is briliant. I've wanted so much to remaster some of the old vids I made to the first albums, but I could never get past my sad, bitter fannish coffin lid--and the new album has pretty much nailed it shut.

But yeah, wishing I could hold up a lighter.

I do understand that -- sometimes you can't even raise crumbling zombies of love when something has broken your fannish heart so much.
