Haven't seen THE EPISODE yet, but tumblr is telling me a lot of good things about it and I see people here going EEEE about it and that is good. :D I'll flail when I've seen it (and also flail about the Day of the Fish Doctor and Adventure in Space and Time, because <333!!!!!), but this is to get a gripe out of the way beforehand.
(
So tired of Moffhate everywhere. Also spoilers. )

it really really struck the right notes everywhere, and there was nothing I can complain about at all. I haven't seen all of the Fish Doctor yet, but so far, it's hysterically funny, and my love for Peter knows no bounds (not that it did before this). ;)
You're in for loads of treats.

I've been avoiding mainstream fandom since the Tennant days because of that sort of thing; people were complaining about RTD's issues just as loudly as they're complaining about Moff's now (and all the new fans in denial about Rose inevitably leaving the show hurt, a lot, because that's how the show works dkfjslg). No showrunner will be perfect. But I like a lot of the things Moff has done and particularly some of the things he's done that subverted things I didn't like about the RTD era. And I can't wait to discover all the awesomeness about the special. Already gleeing forever about the gifsets I've seen.
Fish Doctor is brilliant and beautiful and I want to squish Peter and Colin and Sylvester SO HARD. And also everyone else, because so many cameos. :'D

So, I ended up just watching Fish Doctor and it was great and nostalgic, plus McGann in the 5 minute preview. And instead of inspiring me to go back to new Who, I think I'll listen to more of the Big Finnish 8th doctor and go rewatch some of the classics.

Aw. I can understand -- there are a bunch of things I really don't have patience for anymore. I completely agree about both Moff and RTD having their own set of problems. And the Sherlock trailer.... just really didn't interest me.
I don't think you can go wrong with McGann, really. ^^ Definitely gonna miss Smith and his ridiculous face when he has to go, but I'm just going to try to ignore all the stuff that ticks me off -- bypassing it and diving back into oldskool is an equally valid choice.
