Bill/Fleur Wedding?

Jul 22, 2010 11:01

I heard that someone did a cosplay (second) wedding at Infinitus... dressed as Bill and Fleur. It's been a dream of mine to do a Hogwarts Wedding... either as Lily and James or Ginny and Harry, since my husband and I have the right colorings. (I've got red hair, he has dark hair and glasses ( Read more... )

You can find some of the pictures of it here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/shaebay/. I wasn't there, so I can't tell you much more about it.

I went to the Weasley meetup next door that morning so I did see some of it! Everyone was in costume and they had it split between to rooms (the ones to the right of the Java Sea room).

The best part was they had someone (short) dressed up as a Patronus to warn of Death Eaters coming and then the Death Eaters stormed in!! (this was for the reception part as it seemed the ceremony part was already done - so ceremony in one room, then moved to the other room for the reception)

Hi! That was me! My husband and I met at Terminus and had a muggle wedding in Cleveland, Ohio. I moved to Ohio to be with him after living in Orlando for 9 years and it broke my heart that I was unable to have all of my Orlando Harry Potter Club (OHPC) family there. It seemed the only solution was to have some sort of event that celebrated our marriage while we were visiting Orlando and since I have been cosplaying Fleur since GoF, the Bill/Fleur wedding was a given :)
There are lots of photos up on facebook, but I have yet to come across any of our adorable Lynx patronus! She was PERFECT!
As for tips? I just read, and re-read the wedding chapter to get as many details as possible (like the gold balloons, gold and white flowers and garden gnomes lol) JKR focused mainly on the dialogue between the trio, so there were not very many details mentioned. We only get snippets of the wedding vows and the dress is described as a "simple white dress." So we had to invent a lot of it.
Thanks for your interest!!!

Heather got a picture of us just hanging out before we went over to crash the reception (I think it was right before...?) - http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=5131768&op=2&o=global&view=global&subj=508090213&id=502921851

It also might have been right after Stephanie said, "I just got told to f**k off by a patronus." XD

That is SO LOVELY! How romantic and wonderful that you were able to put something like that together with your friends!! Was it difficult to put together? I suppose if I was to do a Lily/James wedding or a Ginny/Harry one, I'd have a bit more leeway on the details... which is both freeing and slightly overwhelming! I really, REALLY wanted to have a Hogwarts-themed wedding, but my parents (who helped pay for it) veto'd that idea... I thought maybe for a 5 year vow renewal... but having one at a Con would be amazing.

I love the pictures! I've looked at them a bunch of times. I'm just in awe. :) And I'm totally obsessed with this idea!

How were you guys able to get the room at the hotel? Did you have to put a lot of down to get everyone in there?

It was gorgeous and decorated so well!

Heather's pics were awesome and thanks for all the compliments, Missy! Being at a con, I am glad it was more of a vow renewal than our official ceremony becasue it was really rather stressful working with the hotel staff through the con staff. Everyone was wonderful, don't get me wrong, but when you are someone like me, who wants total control, you have to relinquish a bit of it working with multiple tiers of people.

I think a 5 year anniversary vow renewal would be a wonderful event for you guys. The popularity of Infinitus suggests there will still be cons happening at the Wizarding World for years to come!

Best wishes!

I totally understand... I think if I was doing a vow renewal for myself instead of just an event/show for the con, I might become relatively bridezilla! XD Not that you were, I'm just saying I can understand the frustration!

I can't wait, my DH has agreed for us to do our 5 year renewal in HP style! I'm really excited for it! That gives me two years to prepare... though, I'm pretty sure we're going to do it here where we live instead of at a Con. And we've got dear friends who are willing to cosplay Hermione and Ron for us! :)

Thank you so much for showing me that a HP-themed wedding/renewal is possible! It was a dream of mine, but I didn't think it was possible... now I know! :)

Hope to see you again at future cons! I hope you don't mind that I friended you!
