Coming down 18th St wasn't too bad. Leaving was definitely a more "painful" experience.

Aside from the cold (which magically stopped bothering me around 11am ;)), the worst part was the sound. We had a decent view of that jumbotron you were near but the sound wasn't synced. Whatever, if you're out where we all were it's more about the experience of being in the crowd anyway.

Did you guys see Marine One on your way out? It flew RIGHT over us as we were walking out. Everyone started screaming and yelling up at the copter and spontaneously started singing Hey, Hey, Goodbye at him.

PS - I think we were behind the ONLY two Bush supporters on the Mall. It wasn't obvious until they announced Bush and the girl started clapping and cheering while everyone was booing. Stupid twat.

ha, we had one of those chicks too! she was saying something about "respect the president". we did see marine one too. we'd heard a news report earlier about how when it leaves with the old pres on it they don't call it marine one they call it something else so we were joking about calling it marine good riddance and marine don't let the door hit ya, etc. people were *so* excited to see him go, it was great. i'm glad i didn't have tickets to anything, i heard that lots of people with them got turned away for no good reason (like, oh sorry it's too full already - wtf?)

yeah i keep seeing these headlines that say "the white house said ___" and i agree with whatever it is and i'm like WOW. i'm glad you're getting in the spirit!

i was wondering if maybe the poor information handling was purposeful. as in, it would be difficult if you were planning something disruptive to even get where you wanted to go if all you got was 27 conflicting bits of info. it's unlikely but otherwise i'm faced with the idea that no one cared enough to make any of it work and i *hate* that idea. the only reason we were able to navigate anything is because i knew exactly where we were at all times. i feel so bad for folks who travelled hundreds of miles only to get gates they had tickets through slammed in their faces - that must have been awful.
