Burned by Nero

I compiled the most awesome "bon voyage Don Hawk" cd of all time in Nero, but it simply refuses to work. First it was telling me that the drive was busy, so I went and downloaded the upgrades for Nero 6 to Nero 6 point whatever, now I just get process failed, process failed, process failed-- in spite of all my fiddling with it. It's VERY ( Read more... )

That is indeed something to arouse somber reflection! Where's he off to? Did you get a recommendation from him on who he thought would do a good job for you? I would expect that the man knows his competition and knows who's competent. Of course, it also helps that he knows you and may have a good idea of whom you'd like also ( ... )

We have a baby carrier actually, because I've always been enthusiastic about "baby wearing", and he usually LOVES it-- if it's worn by DADDY. For some reason he just doesn't dig it when mommy wears it. I think it's an awkward fit/feeling to him as mommy is smaller and rounder. We hope to get him to adjust to it when mommy wears it too, but it's just as well for now as he has an awful habit of squirming enough that he gets me in my still tender c-section area. (It's a front carrier, obviously).

Don hasn't given me a solid reccomendation on stylists yet, as it is a "specialized hair type" I have. I'm sure he will come up with a name, he already has heard of a couple of people.

It's not Don the stylist I'll miss though. He really is a dear friend.

It's a happy occasion, though. He's moving to Mexico with his love. I'm very happy for him! Although I am worried about them being couple of gringos who no speaky much espanol.

Of course you'll miss Don more for reasons of friendship than your hair. You're not that hair-crazy. Heh. Yeah, it's a bummer when people you like to hang with move away. Don't worry too much about Mexico. I have read things which suggest that Mexico is full of places very friendly to gringo immigrants, and I'm sure he'll pick up the language once he's immersed.

Young Michael is certainly unique, in my experience. I've never heard of a baby who preferred dad over mom, although my brother's son comes close for "kids who like hanging with dad more". At any rate, you've been hauling him around for nine months -- you'd figure that he'd be used to your gait and body carriage. Heck, physiologists speculate that being rocked comforts infants because the rocking motion replicates the motion they experienced in utero when their mothers walked. Strange.

eh- I think its the way he hangs on me more than prefering daddy for other reasons.

He does nap in the stroller, btw. Two days ago it was the only way I could get him to nap at all.

Yes, work and children can really tax a woman -- literally and figuratively. It's a shame that Govco. has messed up the economy so badly that two-income families are a necessity in all too many cases -- then the politicians have the boorish audacity to tax the people who are working hard just to make ends meet on top of that! A couple of libertarian think tanks have calculated that most mothers who work make only enough to cover the cost of childcare and the family's tax burden. There's something wrong with that picture. The ex and I thought about her going to work after our daughters were born but she wanted to go to school and that worked out better for all of us. If you're going back into the job market, I do hope that you find a good employer who appreciates you better than your last one. Children deserve the attentions of an otherwise unstressed mom.

I'll only work evenings/weekends so we can spare the expense of day care for a while. I don't see the point of working full time only to have 99.9% of the money go towards someone else raising my child for me.

Eh, I'm going back to the same place... for now. The schedule I'll be working will help eliminate my dealings with the most dispicable creatures there. Plus I have a new zero tolerance for drama bullshit policy. Any bs, and I walk.

Of course! Amen.

I do hope that your new schedule doesn't stress you out and that the situation is better than you had before. I just can't help but believe that your talents could probably offer you much more remuneration than you might think. I certainly hope that you are offered the opportunity to see this sometime soon.

I use a jukebox player from musicmatch jukebox. It's free and comes with a burning feature.
