i'm gonna quit smoking...

Feb 10, 2005 09:36

i've decided today that i'm smoking my last batch of cloves. i will not be buying any more packs of smokes. i've gotta quit doing this because my body doesn't deserve this kind of treatment. it is a temple and i'm treating it like it's a smoke stack. i'm determined to do this, so i've gotta put a plan together that i'm gonna stick with. any

they're not kools, thank goodness. however, i've found that clove cigarettes are just as addictive as regular cigarettes.

quit slowly... it takes time to stop and it's more difficult to go cold turkey (that's what i hear from that recent cartoon cigarette commercial).

interesting looking british link

Gonna just go cold turkey? I've seen people try that and it's very hard. Both on them and the people around them.

Ever think of trying that patch?

if they want me to try the patch, i'll try the patch. basically i just want to quit, so anything that will help me do it, i'm willing to try it. i'm definitely not going completely cold turkey in that i'm gonna get medical assistance for it.

How's it going? meekikikongkong February 12 2005, 00:57:20 UTC
I used to smoke. It wasn't as hard for me to quit because I'd only smoked for six weeks. I do know it's hard. Especially when stress hits.

if you can, find a quitting buddy. that way you can egg each other to quit smoking.

maybe stick a note on the fridge on why you want to quite smoking. a friend of mine who quit smoking said her breathing improved remarkably after a week and she can taste food better.

but i think the first thing to do is to accept the fact that this will be one of the toughest, hardest, ickiest decisions you'll ever make. like an (ex)boyfriend who gave good sex (*eherm*), lots of love and good conversation, you will be craving your ciggie like you wouldn't believe. but like the ex* who was never good for you in the long term, your need to reach for a smoke will diminish in time. replaced by needs of a much healthier sort (don't turn to chocolates though!)
