Wow, sounds pretty interesting. The discourse of "myth" versus "discourse" is particularly interesting to me. Especially as it relates to a more modern context. I recently was talking to a friend about the (unsubstantiated) claim that it was Michelangelo who, watching artists take credit for work they hadn't created, began carving his signatures into his sculptures as a safeguard (thus setting a precedent for the creative ownership of an object by the artist). But the story, however compelling or interesting, remains an unsubstantiated myth, even if it points to what actually was beginning to become a part of the academic artistc discourse of the time and place mentioned.
