Behind a cut so as not to harsh anyone's squee, but if you'd like to try to help me understand, that's cool. I don't guarantee I WILL understand, but hey. Maybe I'm missing something simple.

I don't get it )

Cant help you with all of it but Joe's full name is Joe Mortan and he survived some crazy shit when taking the Citadel that convinced his then-followers that he was immortal. Immortal+Mortan=Immortan. It's in the comics. A lot is in the comics actually.

I also choose to believe that where the nuclear fall out made everyone else sick, it made Max a superhero ala Marvel to explain his injury situation and his age.

Also the US military went from horses to tanks and planes in one generation. Stranger things have happened. In terms of evolving terms, who knows what could happen. re:Imperator

Okay, except for the fact that Max was literally being drained of blood and then spent the whole movie fighting and then got drained of blood again and didn't keel over.

Also that he was strapped to the front of a car driving into a dust storm, then was in a major car accident with his arm chained to the car and was...fine. I enjoyed the movie a lot more than I was expecting to, but I can't help you with the world building or the action hero gumby thing.

The only one I can help you with is #1. All of these are my thoughts, but influenced by some of the fic I've read ( ... )

Finally, I don't see this as a tragedy of the commons, because I don't think Furiosa is going to let anyone think that the area is now common land. She's not going to let anyone dispute that she's in charge, at least not for a long time. Maybe if Max came back, she might (MIGHT) leave someone else in charge and go off with him, or if he stayed, she might let him be co-leader, but that's assuming that being in charge on her own isn't exactly what she wants to be. The Citadel is still under the rule of one person, it's just had a swap to Benevolent Dictator from Tyranical Dictator.

Ugh, my comment was too long for LJ >:(

I get that in general, but it wasn't what I saw at the end of the movie; there were people climbing on the lift thing to enter the Citadel with Furiosa and her group, and the people up top had already opened the water gates for everyone.

But by the end of the movie I was kind of an overstimulated mess, and I had to pee, so maybe I misinterpreted. \o?
