If the community ever goes back to moderated posting, you can set every post to be friends locked. ...I wonder if when it's unmoderated the same can be done? >_>? I just had to set it to moderated/friends locked for another comm I manage.

I LOVE YOU BLASPHEMY!!!

(oh, silly me, for a second I thought this was a news post...)

(and I didn't get here first because I was on lunch, darn it)

(and I hope that my attempt at humor was taken in the spirit in which it was intended)

Friends-locking future entries...I don't like it, but if the mods want to keep the comm from the snark and protect their delicate sensibilities protect the privacy of the users, fine. (And I don't mean that strikethrough to be mean; I'm just being brutally honest.) The past, just no. There's a lot of good information there, and I'd imagine that people want to use it for real reasons.

As above commenters have stated, there are many great past posts, and going back and locking them would be a pain. Some OPs of past posts may not even be members of the comm, so you and the other mods would have to make the choice to leave it public or delete the entry altogether.

If you do decide to lock future entries, I do think this entry should definitely be public just so new members (and non-members/LJ users who wish to stay informed) know what's going on.

Please think about the impact of this action.

The mods aren't protecting their delicate sensibilities. We're protecting our community's purpose and security, to prevent users from being targeted unfairly. I'm going to go with the general wellbeing of the community and make future posts friends locked. The reason this is f-locked right now is because I want to know the users opinions. The members want their privacy, the moderators want their privacy, and we want the community to have some stability.

I hope you are feeling better - this post tells me you probably are. :)

Should I lock my roundup link post? I hate to do it because it is linked in so many places. But if you want me to do it I certainly will.

I can't get the damn post to open in edit mode, for some reason, but I'm going to put in that we'll only f-lock from here on out, rather than past posts. News and information posts will remain unlocked for public use.

Thank you. This is a policy I can live with.
