I just signed on to watch this community a day or so ago. If it had been locked, I'd never have seen it. I can understand screening comments and banning trolls (I do it myself sometimes) but going to completely silent running--if I understand you correctly--seems like it would make for less effective communication on the topic.

But either way, kudos to you for doing the work. I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell that 6A will change their tune, but it's damn certain they won't if nobody makes an effort to convince them it's worthwhile.

I think I can understand why flocking the community would be prudent, but it seems to me that that this would be a mistake: if more people are to find out about 6A and their recent response to content they deem obscene, trolls or no, this community would be invaluable. If there is a way of moderating comments further that has not already been attempted (perhaps screening anonymous and non-member comments, though I believe you said that this didn't function correctly), it would seem to be preferable. If it is a matter of needing more moderators, I would be more than happy to volunteer, if you would be willing to allow me to moderate or if you need more help ( ... )

As someone who's been in fandom for five years, I'm sorry to see an "us versus them" mentality developing here. I don't know where the problem arose, but surely, as you say, "We are all here for the same reason. We are against the censorship of Livejournal." Isn't it enough to say that without making non-fan folk feel as though they're outsiders here?

I'm also sorry to hear your decision about F-locking, as I agree with others that it will diminish the power of this comm.
