I started the hunt for a car yesterday. Though I was really looking for a Corolla only, I also test-drove a Yaris just to keep the salesmen on their toes. The '09 Corolla drives like I think a Toyota sedan should; the Yaris does not. The Yaris is underpowered, stripped-down, and dare I say jumpy when you hit the gas. Graduation went well yesterday, but it was rather crazy. BioE luncheon was fun and I got awards for being student marshal, outstanding thesis, and the Anti-Vegan award (this was a joke related to my waterbottle, which I threw out the other day because of possible BPA). I have a new toy from Penn State surplus! It's a Mac Powerbook G4 and it's going to be my happy little friend for traveling :)

I defended my thesis today and it went well. I got three signatures on the spot and a certain committee member was not too  much of an asshole during the presentation. Tomorrow I am printing this and getting it out of my hands! I can ring the gong, plz?

Also, celebrations with friends are fun :)

It can be done, yes? I talked to my advisor Friday afternoon, and he, after much pondering, recommended HPLC. The problem is that nobody uses HPLC in materials science, so it will be more difficult finding one. Hopefully bioengineering has one? I want this done NOW.

I signed a lease today on the apartment I looked at earlier in the week in Highland Park. Issues about the age of the house were cleared up and about the people situation. The Gordon Research Conference on Colloidal, Macromolecular, and Polyelectrolyte Solutions (what a mouthful) was a success! My poster was well-received and it was fun hearing talks from some very famous polymer physicists.
