I adore the way you write Luna. She's such a difficult character to pin down and I think you did a really good job. And it was so right that she didn't try to fix George, but was simply ready for him after he had decided to heal. You depicted George's brokenness very well. Every time I think about his grief and how fucking horrible it was of Rowling to kill off a person that everyone including George always remembers when they see George's face it just kills me a little bit. These bits about George talking to a therapist were just so well thought out and perfect, oh my god:

He talked about the resentment he had toward Percy and how he'd hated himself for even entertaining the idea that it should have been Percy instead of Fred.

And:

He talked about growing a beard while he was gone so that he wouldn't look like Fred anymore.

I spent a long time playing Luna in a LJ RPG and I really felt like I got into her headspace really easily. Writing her as sort of a guide to lead George back from his grief felt like the right thing to do. I'm so glad you enjoyed the story.

Oh, my twirly, happy heart! This is amazing! I adore this pairing, and I really think that Luna is THE perfect person to help George navigate through everything post DH. You showed that so well here. I love their first meeting in Amsterdam, the details of Luna sipping gin, her not telling him to come home, her being so upfront about Molly having asked her to seek him out, etc. And Luna seems exactly like the kind of person who would slowly sneak her way into your heart and make you love her in that slow, unexpected, lovely, perfect, so real way. Just like this! I loved the way you wrote the first introductory section-- the style, the repetition of left, etc. (Words are so hard for me right now, but it was beautiful!) I loved your Dr Upland, and I really appreciated how you handled George coming to terms with needing to talk to a professional. I went through a lot of those same steps and it was really validating to see it in fic. I loved every single bit of this story!
