I'm pretty convinced that the way you wrote them fighting was almost better than them having sex... The way you make them move in my mind is fantastic and exhilarating, I love it > w<~
That image was a very powerful one indeed and a motif that wonderfully keeps popping up in the most delicious, if oh so 'oh crap' for Batsy, kind of ways. ♥
this was great! you two write action very well. :) it was considerate of the Joker to worry about how he doesn't pull his punches, because he knows Bruce doesn't see pain the way he does. the sparring sequence was fantastic! and of course, it's going to set off a flashback which was wretched. :( but I'm super happy that Bruce's words of good intention finally got through. aww!
as a note, you might want to fix this: A knock, just as soft came soon afterward.

"...I didn't mean to," he whispered eventually. Aw - I always melt when he slips into his "Baby/Vulnerable-Joker" voice.
Amazing how Bruce still managed to get through to him, walking that fine line ... And amazing how both Bruce and the Joker´s psychological makeup seems so realistic, right down to these fine nuances like Bruce realizing he can´t simply make the Joker confront his demons and everything will be hunky dory.
He held the writhing madman down, throwing his full weight against the man. "It doesn't matter what I've done. I swear it," he said, whispering it in the man's ear, aware that his neck was dangerously close to the Joker's scarred lips. "I will protect you. All the fear you feel for me, I will use to keep you safe."Or how much the Joker needs Bruce ...his
