Ed so doesn't know what to do with himself - he's not what he was but he doesn't know how to be "normal." You've captured that really well. And the terror that the person he counted on for stability might be lost as well.

Well, and even without his alchemy, nothing about Ed is normal. Assuming he was dealing well, there is no place that would be an easy fit for him. He's absolutely brilliant, but most everything he knows has no practical application if he can't transmute. And yeah, Roy is too visibly a mess for him to not notice it either.
