Umm well I did get a badge saying I wrote like JRR Tolkien, which is nice but I couldn't figure how to get it to come up on LJ [I've never understood the techno mumbo jumbo associated with these kind of things] so you'll just have to take my word for it unless this link brings it up! Below is the passage I pasted into the thingy to do it's thingy ( Read more... )

I pasted one of my paragraphs from "The Three Towers" into the thing, and apparently I write like Stephen King. Then I pasted a paragraph from "The Three Towers" and... I write like Stephen King!

Haha, I tried this too...pasted a passage from one of my LOTR fics and apparently I write like Lewis Carrol. Who'd have thought?

Hehe, I got the same result (and I was quite happy about it)! It would have been very strange to be told I'm writing like Stephen King, lol!

I do wonder quite how this thing works. I'm just glad not to write like Stephen KIng too!

I thought I would test it, and it managed to correctly identify 'Earendil', 'All that is gold does not glitter' and Gollum's riddles as by Tolkien.

However, 'Oliphaunt' foxed it - it thought that sounded more like James Joyce. I guess it's not quite JRRT's usual style!

LOL! It's not that clever then! Interesting it goes by key words and phrases rather than writing style which, come to think of it, would probably be quite a task.
