I think it's more about not obsessing about things you can't change in yourself, and trying to focus outward instead of inward.

It seems appealing to me, given how similar my inclinations are to his. You're right: No one should be completely blind to their deficiencies. It's just more bearable than a life dominated by them.

I LOVE THAT BOOK! It has changed how I think about things so much, the only "self help" book that actually helps.
