Um, Katherine and I are buying a house in Madison, but confusingly that is part of a master plan that involves moving to Boston in the second half of 2014.

That is confusing, but also exciting! How does your master plan work?

Yay, Boston and house!

Boo, Lev Grossman. I loved the first half of the Magicians and I hated the second half, and man did I loathe the Magician King, especially the ending, with the burning hate of a thousand fiery suns. Which is a shame, because I loved the Brakebills stuff, the world-building stuff, the magic, and even the alternate world stuff, and everything that wasn't the plot and the ridiculous things that happened to the characters (and the often-ridiculous characters). I loved the turning to geese part, so much. I didn't even have a problem with the main character per se, except as part of what I generally disliked about the books. But man. Did I hate the ending of those books like nothing on this earth. Probably because I felt so betrayed by it after the awesome beginning.

ETA: That is not to say I Judge people who do like the books, because they have some awesome stuff. I just think he failed to live up to the epic potential. And also is kind of offensive.

"Offensive," if it's for the same reasons, is the difficulty I had with The Magician King. I didn't mind most of the things you did, but I can definitely see minding them!

Did you ever read The Once and Future King? I bet yes.

I can't imagine re-reading those books-and I'm in the "loved them" camp. But they're so traumatizing!

BTW I totes LARPed with Lev's twin brother Austen last summer. Nice guy; also an author, apparently.

Many Bothans died to bring you that album. I hope you enjoy it.
