When one likes to hang around in the Nexus and haven't told your coworkers back at home about the Nexus, having a good place to hang out and wait out the LOLs is a very good thing. Especially when the LOL is one like this - he's pretty sure that ShinRa would be not at all amused to find their leading General had inexplicably turned blue and fuzzy

And a girlfriend who can help get rid of the LOL, though she might want a while to get used to the Pokémonness first.
But she's not on the front porch reading, and Cloud is. He'll notice Sephiroth when said General-turned-Pokémon gets close enough ... and straighten up and blink. He'll also stand and walk to the edge of the porch to meet the "stranger". 'Can I help you?'
