And up to the back door Sephiroth will lead them, then. Interestingly, he doesn't knock. Apparently he's a familiar enough presence here that he no longer needs to.

That or he's taken up residence here, but he'll leave the guess-work to Angeal.

"I'm back," he calls out into the silence. Time to see if anyone's home.

Even if Basi hadn't corrected Angeal's social faux pas, Gevurah would have. Her own method is somewhat simpler though: she looks at the hand is if she's thoroughly offended by it, before climbing to her feet and stalking pointedly towards the fire, all before Angeal's hand ever touches her fur. Cheetah is not for petting, it seems.
