What I learned today

Feb 04, 2006 00:10

In linux:
How to rename multiple files at once. The 'rename' command takes a perl regular expression as an argument, so I learned a little perl and brushed up on regular expressions. A few more days of working on this shell script and my grading will be automated, and my students will stop yelling at me to grade their labs.

I have a Gruduate Assistanceship, in which I work for the CS department and they pay for my grad school.

The job they assigned me is to run the lab for the intro java class. I mostly review what the main class is doing, but I try to introduce one new topic every week.

Also, one of the instructors who teaches the main class was out week before last, so I got to teach that class for 3 days.

Jessica seems sure that they will offer me a full teaching job when I graduate.
