I'm not going to say one way or another whether I think the leak is real or not. I don't care. I just find it an interesting read, and would like to discuss it with other people
( Read more... )
Actually, Voldemort planned to feed Wormtail (live) to Nagini in Goblet of Fire - and then he got the news that Barty Crouch Sr. had been killed, so he told Wormtail to relax - that they'd be feeding Harry to Nagini instead
( ... )
Now it actually makes less sense to me than ever before...I went back and re-read the line from that to get the full quote, and it goes:
"I have been careless and so have been thwarted by luck and chance, those wreckers of all but the best laid plans. But I know better now. I understand those things that I did not understand before. I must be the one that kills Harry Potter, and I shall be."
The way it's worded here (or is it just me...) it sounds like this is a relatively recent revelation that's had. How did Snape already know about it in HBP?
If this is the real DH, then I want to know before I spend any money on it. If it's real, I will not buy it and will pitch the Potter books I do have. I find the whole thing so hideously unsatisfying that I cannot imagine staying in the fandom. I will regret ever having read PS all those years ago and felt that I have wasted years of my life on a pointless piece of drivel.
Maybe it's just the way that the sentence is structured that bugs me. To me, as at least a one time writer, I probably would've phrased it as:
"Dinner, Nagini" said Voldemort softly. That said, the great snake swayed and slithered from his shoulder onto the polished wood. ...or something like that.
Then again, I've been told that I'm a control freak, so that may be why that sentence bothers me :-D
I haven't read the leak as I have no way to (I don't have WinRar on this computer, and it isn't mine, so I'm not about to download it), but I'm interested in some actual discussion rather than "It's fake!" "It's real!" arguments--mind if I stalk?
I must admit all of that sounds fishy--but no, that last sentence is not a run-on.
