Wow. Brilliant! I'm crap at reviewing, because I can never properly express what exactly I like about a fic, so I'm just going to say that this seems right somehow. *memories*
Thank you! I'm glad it seemed right to you; when I was first playing around with the idea, I was surprised at how easily it worked with the characters and with canon in general. If there were ever going to be a universe stopped at a moment in time, I think Wodehouse's would be it.
I've never actually read The Lathe of Heaven, but having looked it up, I think I'll have to add it to my list; it sounds like exactly the sort of thing I find interesting. Glad you liked the fic!
This was wonderful :) You've got the voices spot on, too (I'm also terrible at reviewing). When I realised this might be a war fic, I almost didn't want to read on*, but I'm very glad I did!
*Mentions of the world wars have this amazing ability to reduce me to tears. I cry at Wilfred Owen poetry and the Britten War Requiem.
Heh. This is sort of an unwar fic, for just that reason; war is such a terrible thing that I don't like the idea of someone as sweet and fluffy as Bertie having to go through it.
I think that's one of the things I love about Wodehouse's England. It's so idyllic, and everyone's just jolly nice, and the ones who aren't quite so nice get their comeuppance. But in a kind of almost-jolly nice and non-injurious way...
I am English, yes. I really do say "gosh"! ...And get funny looks for it...
I'm glad you liked it! There's really not much left to tell, though; WWII will fizzle out, and Bertie and the rest will continue living in an idealized Edwardian era, with Bertie and his friends constantly getting into trouble and Jeeves always (eventually) fishing them out. It'll just last indefinitely, that's all. I may end up revisiting this universe sometime, but probably not at this point in the timeline.
