It's the end of an ERA!

Okay so does anyone else remember that ridiculous anti-drug program that went on in the early 90's? DARE? I don't even remember what it stood for except that it somehow related to getting kids off of drugs. Drugs Are Really Evil? I think it was Nancy Reagan who started it. She was on an episode of Different Strokes. The "Whachoo talkin' 'bout Willis" kid (his name escapes me) was pressured into drugs or something so she made a cameo and plugged DARE.

It's kinda sad to know that years from now my children won't spend a week of each school year wearing those red wristbands in order to get free shit.

Oh...well now I feel bad for ripping on Nancy Reagan because she's pretty awesome...shoot. Oh well, I'm still pretty glad the program's done!

Bubble of Opulence. Love it.

Because my family moved a bit in my elementary years, I ended up going through D.A.R.E. three times, fourth through sixth grade. Eff that.

Ah, Drug Abuse Resistance Education (I can't believe I remembered that!). We had to go through it in fifth grade, when it seemed a little more worthwhile... Telling this stuff to first graders is a ridiculous waste of money!! Then again, so is learning that "drugs are bad" from a cop who is later found to be a dealer. Gotta love Hillsdale. :)

Were those red wristbands part of DARE? The free stuff was cool. But I knew a lot of stoners that wore the bracelets.

The only place I've heard Hugs Not Drugs is at raves! They're serious too!

I preferred DEAR: Drop Everything and Read. Don't know if they had it out here though.
