First Week

Aug 31, 2007 21:23

Well, the first week of class has come and gone.  The things I've learned:

1. I hate middle English.  No, seriously.  Chaucer can shove it.
2. Professors who spend nearly an entire class period taking 3 steps forward and 3 steps back annoy the hell out of me.  Hold still!
3. Listening to a prof read a syllabus verbatim is boring (something I relearn ( Read more... )

*inserts IV drip in Erika* So, sounds like you're settling back into the routine then. Charming that your profs read you the entire syllabus, because naturally they couldn't expect that senior college students, and English majors to boot, could, like, read.

Even Ian's looking wry about it.

Thanks for that!

ROFL! I never thought of it that way. I suppose they figure we won't read it on our own time (we wouldn't, lol).

*Hold still, Erika...Oh, E already inserted a drip.

Don't worry; you've got a bit on your plate, but it'll work out ;) Can you not take middle English anymore, or do you have to endure it? :( Oh well, there'll be more good times than bad! :)

And that photo of Ian is too hot for words gehhh!!

I need to take the Chaucer class to fill an English requirement. It upsets me greatly. Oh well, I guess it's not Old English, which is pretty much a completely different language that you need to spend years studying before you're fluent in it. My prof. decided to scare the hell out of us by talking in Old English for a little while. :s

I know!!! Ian, you are sexy!!!

The only good thing about Middle English is not much of it has survived all these centuries, so hopefully that bit will pass quickly for you and you can be onwards and upwards.

You like tea? I thought nobody drank it over there *slap wrist for stereotype*

Ahh. That's a nice pic of Ian. That's the 'I've been really busy' level of facial hair.

I'm getting a bit better at the reading part, it's the pronunciation part that's stumping me now. Did you know that the word "knyght" in Middle English (today's "knight") is pronounced "ka-nict"? What a pain! And wtf does "eek" mean (pronounced "ache")? *pulls out hair*

I heart tea; you'd be surprised how many people prefer tea over coffee. Tea is just all around better; it's sweeter and it has antioxidants. Yeah tea!

This is one of my faves of Ian! *swoon* I heart that goatee. *double swoon*

Laughing at the IV drip remark! I’ve always thought that someone should make a soft drink or candy bar called “LifeForce” that would contain every sinful OTC substance a student would need to crash course on homework: caffeine, sugar, decongestants, dark chocolate, more caffeine, and maybe a few essential multivitamins, etc. All concentrated into one convenient little pill. Like the concept of Jolt soft drink, only taken to a shocking extreme. LOL.

Good thing you drink tea! At least that’s semi-healthy. Take care and I hope you have a productive but not-too-stressful semester. If ever you need a morale boost, just email me. I’m thinking of you and wishing you lots of luck with your studies and GRE exams!
