Nah, they apparently eat people. And they made a comment about his blood - but you'll see it. It was hard to watch because it was Sammy. Bleeding. I don't like Sammy bleeding like that.

I love that last scene but at the same time it makes me want to shake Dean. I mean, basically that scene tells us that we were right all along about two things - first is that Sam is just like John (only more badass, because he'd kick John's ass, you know he would). And secondly is that Dean doesn't have a clue who his brother really is. And if before he at least had faith in Sam, he doesn't have that anymore. He still loves Sam, I have no doubt about that, but that loss of faith in his brother is what will lead to very bad things. *hides Sammy*

Yes, I think you will like it. It was definitely more like the monster of the week type of episode we used to get.

Well, I like hurty Sammy, but now when they're cutting into him and then drinking his blood. Not our Sammy. No!

Uhm...I didn't get the 'abrupt' feeling actually. And honestly, as much as I... - ahem will not bitch about it once again ending with the focus on Dean - there was really nothing more to say after Dean and Sam exchanged those words.

Sorry the download was taking so long. That sucks. Actually, this episode is worth the wait. Next one - well, that's a whole other story. Though I have to say, the promo was so generic and confusing that it didn't give anything away. Which is actually kudos to CW for that. Maybe, just maybe they will not give away the end of the season in their promos after all, like they've done the last 2 seasons.

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED IT. Like, for serious. It felt like something outta season two. I haven't been this happy after an episode since "Yellow Fever". Was this Sera Gamble? Did she find her lost mind? Oh, I hope so. Again, I don't understand why they can cast such great actors/actresses for one-off roles and fail so horribly with recurring? Lauren Cohen wasn't bad, but her character was terribly used. Traci Dinwiddle ... what a waste of an actress and fab character. :/ Who do they keep? Freaking Cortese and McNiven. Ugh.

ANYWAYS! The end scene, when Dean said that, I swear, I thought he was gonna burst into tears or something. Like he was devastated he's not like John in the way he always wanted to be, tried to be, and Sam's that way naturally. I suspect he could see it before, but he likes to set up camp along that little river called Denial. If only he'd realize he's just like Mary, then maybe he'd man up. Cuz she'd have manned up a long time ago.

Yes, even though there was definitely some family back story and such, it was very much the monster of the week episode. It had all the components that have made this show so great back in season 1 and 2, absolutely, no doubt about that.

well, they did have awesome recurring characters...who they killed. *sighs*

That last scene just - well, honestly, that 'take it however you want', I'm not sure how to take it. Is he jealous that Sam is like John? Or he hates the fact that Sam is like John because Dean now believes that John was wrong? Either way, the fact that it just now registered in that brain of his that Sam IS John is both glee-worthy and makes me sad. This is the guy who claims to know his brother.

On the hilarious side, one more proof that Dean's a girl. He was named after his grandmother and is totally like his mom.

And did Sera write this one? I'll have to check. If so, we got cheated. She owes us a shirtless Sam now.

His outward expression read completely different than how he spoke, I thought, esp. when he added on that, "take it however you want". Prior to that, it seemed like the revelation bummed him out. Just how he built up to it - "I dressed like him, acted like him, listened to his music, but I never was him. Not like you are." That's the point I thought he was gonna cry. Then Sam responded as he did and Dean's manner changed again. It seems like it's another wedge coming between them.

Though they worked together and seemed like the team of old, yet they spent way more time arguing about how to handle the situation and Adam than anything else. I was surprised there was no immediate Googling or book research or research of some kind, using the info they had available. Had they not've been at each other, ( ... )

That's exactly why I wasn't sure how to feel about that last line of Dean's. I got the same feeling as you did. At first, the way he built up to it it was one way. And then when Sam actually took it in stride and proudly, he totally turned. Or at least it seemed that way to me. Like the words 'I didn't mean it as a compliment' were playing on his tongue. Which is weird, considering just how much he did idolize John, even long after his death. I think he expected Sam to just go all 'I am not like him, this will not be my life again'. And maybe, just maybe it kills him just like it kills me to realize that Sammy lost that part of himself - that hope for something else other than the life they lead ( ... )

"about freakin time Dean!"

I know, right? I just said 'Really? Just now? Finally?" Oh, Dean.

Sam was loosing way too much blood. I was like 'Dean, hurry up and kill the bastard, Sammy's bleeding out.'

I was actually more interested in how Sam and Dean reacted to the news.
That was the entire reason I was 100% onboard with this 3rd brother thing. Whatever was going to happen, it was going to bring out something different on both boys and that's what captivated me.

Both boys learned something fandom's known for years in this ep: Dean learned Sam's just like John, and Sam's realized (oh the innocence, WHERE HAS IT GONE?!) that ze Winchesters awr curssd!

OMG the blood thing. The contrast between Sam (dude) drinking Ruby's (demon) blood vs Ghouls (monsters) drinking Sammy's (demon-dude?) blood was... intresting to say the least. And then Dean's fighting 'Adam' and Sammy's just BLEEDING OUT and I'm freaking out and holy poo it was creeptastic!

well, I think Sam has believed for a while that the Winchesters are cursed. Or at least felt like he's the one who's cursed. From the very first season. Biggest reason why he wouldn't get close to anybody after Jessica died. And then in season 2 he actually did say that everybody around him dies. But now I guess he sees that it applies to all of them. Everybody he and Dean met who've helped them other than Bobby and Ellen are dead. Everybody their dad met and who helped him are dead.

That's the biggest reveal about Sam - the complete and utter loss of innocence, loss of hope. I mean, as I've said before, Sam is still the same Sam he was in season 1. I mean, especially toward the end of season 1 it was already obvious that Sam is just like John. But even after John died and even after Sam died, there was still some hope left in the boy. Not anymore. And that breaks my heart. *huggles Sammy*

Oh, when Dean was fighting with Adam, I just kept going 'Kill him already and save Sammy!'

Well Sam might have known about it for a while, but for him to say it out loud which cements it more than just thinking about it would have... Oh, Sammy!
Plus there was a lot of connections/parallels to previous episodes in this one-- what you said about Mary's friends all dying (in an ep I forget the title of...), and John's frends all dying in this ep, and the reversal of what happened in Something Wicked with using the kid as bait.

IKR? That's one thing that I LOVE about Sam's character, that loss of innocence that breaks my heart over and over, more so in the ep than in any other I think. HE died and that didn't fully keep him down, but DEAN dying did. woah

The camera didn't even show him for the longest time, it just showed Dean fighting and the blood dripping in the bowl, which was a master move because THAT'S what made me really worry about what the heck was happening to Sam in that scene. like "Is he still even conscious? WHAT?!" Well played, Show.

Oh, Sam absolutely believes that they are cursed. That's another proof that the boy has absolutely no hope left in him. *cries ( ... )

There were some things I didn't like, but overall, I really loved this episode.
