I have my first flight tomorrow on a Piper Traumahawk, and I should have my first solo within two weeks. Have to reread the weather section from last night, do the reading for tonight, do my preflight planning tonight, start studying for my Stage II exam, and start committing flight maneuvers to memory. Fun times.

So I spent two weeks in the capacity of a military lifeguard. Now I'm classing up for IFS, starting ground school for IFS (Introductory Flight Screening) on Monday, and should be starting to fly inside of two weeks. Sooner this gets done, sooner I can class up for Aviation Primary Indoc and spend six weeks doing more academics/water survival/ ( Read more... )

Whoa, I'm in Naval Flight School. I get paid to exercise and walk around looking cool in Khakis all day.

Eleven more days until my first official paycheck.
Thirty-Eight days until I report for Flight School.

So in five days I will officially graduate from the University of Notre Dame as an Ensign in the United States Navy as a Student Naval Aviator. Tentatively one month from now life will go to shit when I report for Aviation Primary Indoctrination.

I'm fixing to make a straight twenty hour drive home after I finish my Security Analysis Exam at 1515 this afternoon. That means I'll be half asleep at 0100-0200 when I hit the snowy mountains of Tennessee. Wish me luck.
