Oh, this is absolutely beautiful. I love all of it, but especially:

But he can't help finding her beautiful in all walks of life - with every emotion that curls around her face and every side of her - even this side, the one that makes him ache for her - vulnerable and wanting and turning to him for comfort when she doesn't know what else to do.

What a gorgeous moment. Quiet moments like this get me all the time, they're my weakness. :P Very lovely. I could see this happening at the end of this entire case.
