You know I really fear for the future of humans when stuff like this happens

Stop blaming others )

It's not just you. You wouldn't believe the parents who call and rip professors a new asshole, just because their child didn't get the grade they thought their child should get.

That's what makes it worse! I've seen that and then some! God, society needs a real kick in the ass. Heh, makes me wonder if it isn't worth it for me to go back to grad school. I'd rather watch my kids go to school and try and help them. Not do what other asshole parents are doing. :(

It's one of the reasons I've considered getting out of academe. If I wanted to teach high school, I would've.

Heh, I thought that issue was done and gone with. Guess not! Heh, babe as garpu posted I've seen and heard all that bs from college students when I was going to school. Even though one school told me to get lost and I couldn't be a teacher. I at least picked myself up by my ass and got my shit together. Hopefully, this idiot will get their shit together and go on with their lives. One could hope! :/

Its the:

"its (insert random thing here)'s fault and its not my kids!"

I blame it on the idiot psychologist who came up with the idea that telling a child 'no' was bad for them, at a time when the people trying to figure out how to raise kids were starting tobe all people who were raised by television and daycare instead of actual parents.

One of the doctors in the practice that I work for came into the file room and was bitching about some parent who wanted to sue an OB for in vitro injury to their child that caused them to be "cross eyed." But the thing is that 1 in 3 kids that comes into our office has a similar problem and it has NOTHING to do with pre-natal care or anything. It just happens. I told the Doc it was a "McDonald's case." Ever since some idiot got a shit ton of money from spilling some coffee on themselves, everyone thinks they're entitled to something. It's obnoxious.

although I agree that the "its not my fault because" crap has got to stop, the mcdonald's thing is a bad example. (Excessive heat, prior warnings, etc. bad enough to need -skin grafts-... this isn't actually a case of "oh no i burn-ed myself and its your fault".. this was a serious injury)

I can't be arsed to find the decent references right now, but here's a wikipedia summary instead. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McDonald%27s_coffee_case

Yeah, it might be a bad example, but it really seems like it was the one that started a slew of "not my fault"/idiot cases...
