FIC: "The Waiting"

Jul 20, 2008 22:29

One year ago tonight, I was standing in a long line at a bookstore ticking off the last hour before the release of DH. My Mom was visiting and she went with me, and people were dressed up (including a very believable Bellatrix), and it was so much fun.

I loved the book, but I felt, like most H/G shippers, it would have been nice to see their ( Read more... )

I'm so glad you are posting again!I

absolutely loved George in this story. He is still grieving for his brother but still retains his impish humor ""And look at the bright side: now I might have a shot with Angelina." I had to laugh even though I was sad.

Ginny was perfect in this. I could feel her frustration and desire to connect with Harry. I also loved how time and again Harry sought her out and tried to reconnect with her. Thanks for the great story this morning :)

Thanks! I'm so glad that you liked this. I had the hardest time with George. I didn't want to diminish his pain, but I couldn't keep a little lightheartedness out of it.

It's not often you get a Harry/Ginny story that really deals well with Fred's death, but you've handled it beautifully here, imbuing every scene with the consciousness of absence.

It wasn't just Fred she was mourning, it was Professor Lupin and her friend Tonks and her boyfriend Harry who had left her almost a year ago and was now back, but about to leave again.

A lovely line. Poor Ginny - she must've had a frustrating year of it.

Small britpick thing: Ginny wouldn't go nutters, she'd go nuts. "A madman is a nutter", but "the madman went nuts" :).

I loved this, though - a really sweet, understated, genuine story.

Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback. I think one of the reasons this story took so long to write that I wanted to convey the jumble of emotions Ginny would have - grief, and relief, and frustration. I'm so glad you enjoyed it.

D'oh! Thanks for that too. You know, I almost asked you to Brit pick this for me, but I had such a tight turnaround time on my self imposed deadline that I didn't. Shocolate has even posted about the distinction, but I obviously didn't pay close enough attention!

Anyway, all fixed now :)

Already left a review for this lovely fic at harry_and_ginny.

This is now one of my fave one-shot H/G post-war fics, written in Ginny's POV.

Hope you don't mind if I friend you? Thanks!

This is wonderful -- great job! I love the slow pace of this, the way that the reader really gets a sense of each missed opportunity, and the way that Ginny strains against the circumstances keeping them apart.

Just wow!
So many interupted moment, how frustrating is that? But anyway most of the time, life is like that (and probably even worst than that sometimes).

That was a really well-written, beautiful and wonderful fic, thanks for sharing it with us!
