New job is going ok. Coworkers are really nice which makes up for the terrible monotony of the work. Luckily I won't be there for very long; got my acceptance to the Masters in Library & Information Sciences. Have decided on the U of Western Ontario since it's the shortest program and close to family. McGill would be lovely, but I'd rather get it ( Read more... )

Starting new job tomorrow. Am looking forward to wearing nice clothes and makeup to work again after months of wearing scrubs.
Grad school applications are mostly submitted. Just need to order the transcript for the University of Western Ontario and that's done. Yay.

Got a job. Beginning wage of $24,000 a year for clerical work in the underwriting department of an insurance company. Not great, but full-time is full-time and will at least get me valuable non-manual labor work experience. Yay for that.

Soooooo, life continues to be rather boring. Still working at the seniors' home but starting in the kitchen soon. Still no luck with the job hunt for non-manual labor. Wrote the Canadian Armed Forces Aptitude Test today. Passed. One step closer to employment. Next step is getting a criminal record check (or the equivalent to) from Germany. Who knows how long that will take. Once that's done it's time for the medical and interview. I just want it to be over and done with! At least the delay gives me extra time at ( Read more... )

Got my date for the military processing. Am definitely writing the apptitude test that day, and depending on whether or not they want a further background check on my time in Germany, will also get the medical tests and the interview done all in one shabang. Been back in Canada just over 2 months. Still unsuccesful in job-hunting. Since I'm getting shifts at my old job I haven't yet reached the "I'll take anything, AAAANYTHING" level of desparation yet. Having to live with the parents much more may drive me to that though, as much as I love them ( Read more... )
