Y'know, one of the things I really like about German is the fact that when referring to a single woman or a married woman the same word is used: Frau.  I don`t know why, but the fact that women change from 'miss' to 'Mrs.' while men stay 'Mr.' has always really irked me.

Only 4.5 months left in Germany. I'm already depressed about having to leave. I doubt I would want to stay here forever, but I'm not looking forward to going back to Canada and facing real life. I'm a very good teacher. Proof:

• Added to the grade 5's vocabulary: Hummer.
• Added to the grade 12's vocabulary: batshit crazy (re: The Tea Party and Sarah Palin)
• Corrected coworkers' pronounciation of 'fuck' as well instructed them on conjugation and proper usage. Also taught them 'batshit crazy.'

I love my coworkers so very much.  During the carpool ride home yesterday Ilka decided to give me tips for German dating.  Hmmm, only 5 months left to find a loveless marriage of convenience :P

So Christmas vacation is nearly done.  Back to work on the 6th.  I spent very little time at home.  For the first week I was in Kassel visiting my host mother from 2009, and the second week I spent in Poland visiting a friend from the university here.  Kassel was really nice, although I ate far too much food and am now very much in need of salads ( Read more... )

Had a very Christmasy day yesterday.  Went to the Uelzen Weihnachtsmarkt, drank Glühwein, ate Bratwurst, watched the Living Advents Calendar and went to my Gymnasium's Christmas Concert.  (I apologize for overuse of capital letters, but I keep wanting to do that to all nouns like in German XD)
