Room 214, Tuesday Morning

Jan 23, 2007 17:24

Morning. Irulan stood and prepared for her day, notebook and pen were set beside her school bag, her clothes neatly prepared from the night before and her headdress for the day... has turned into pie.

Irulan stared at the enormous blueberry pie, her headdress nowhere to be seen. She turned this way and that but her headdress was nowhere in sight. ( Read more... )

Pam, who was in the process of knotting her hair back as usual, turned to look.

"...is that a pie?"

"Blueberry pie." Irulan said, glaring at the headdress turned pie.

Pam stared at it for a bit.

Then, finally, she asked the only question she could think of.

"Are you going to eat it?"

"It was my headdress!" Irulan said slightly scandalized by the notion.

Evie came by after Driver's Education, and knocked on the door. "Irulan? Are you here?"

Irulan was still glaring at the pie but absently said, "Enter."

Evie came in, smiling hesitantly. "Hello. How are you? I haven't seen you since-- well, this weekend." She stopped, and stared at the pie. "Goodness, that's big."

"Evie!" Irulan said, pleased, breaking off her staring contest with the headdress. She paused, "You are Evie, yes?"

"You were kidnapped?" Irulan said, astonished then asked, curious, "Was Nefertiri really a daughter of a god?"

"Oh, yes. At the end of last term. More by accident than design-- the troll girls were just grabbing people at random, although they liked the pretty boys the best. They were *very* fond of Jack." Evie wrinkled her nose. "And no, well, yes. Well, as far as I know, Nefertiri was mortal-- but she believed the pharoahs were descended from gods, and her father was the living avatar. Egyptian mysticism is rather complex."

"They took Jack as well?" Irulan decided she didn't like those troll creaturs at all. Then cocked her head to the side, "Pharoahs are... Emperors I gather?"

If there was something that piqued Irulan's interest more than hats it was anything and all to do with government work.

"They did. They were *most* impertinent." There was no power on the Earth that would make Evie tell that Jack had been willing to seduce those creatures to protect them both. "But Jack was a true gentleman, and he looked after me while we were captive, and helped Sam escape a troll. So it all worked out in the end."

She nodded, then. "Of Upper and Lower Egypt-- they were two separate countries, united under the Pharoahs. And Seti ruled parts of Nubia and the desert, too. The Egyptians had one of the largest empires ever on the Earth." Evie rested her chin on her hands. "I think that may be why she was so confident. It never occurred to her that anything bad could happen to a princess of Egypt."
