This is more than a speech about the election. This is a speech about race issues in the United States. IMO, this is one of the most important speeches ever given here in the US.
it went way beyond that though. It wasn't really about sides, but about airing an issue which has been percolating for 200 years. This may damage him, because there weren't any sound bites for the stoooopid media to cling to, and he didn't throw Rev. Wright under the bus. But god damn, if he goes down in flames for highlighting this issue, I am going to be both incredibly upset (at the nation) and incredibly proud (of him).
I have to say that I did get to hear most of the speech this morning on the radio and it was quite amazing - high praise indeed coming from a Libertarian/Republican.
my dad is a fiscal conservative/social liberal (not quite a Libertarian, but close) and hates all politics. He was an early Obama supporter - totally shocking and unheard of for him to support any candidate gladly.

Holy fuck.
To see a candidate essentially tell BOTH sides "shut the hell up, you're being stupid" is..... inspiring, to say the least.

I don't recall as uncompromising and moving a commentary about race as this coming along since, well, since King's Dream.

The amazing part was how he gave it in a "matter of factly" manner.
