Pulling Shelby away Chloe pulled her daughter to her. “Sweetie you know better than to pull Shelby’s hair like that. Now go sit down in the corner. I’ll come get you when you can get up.”
Sighing as Tyler walked herself over to the chair in the corner she couldn’t help but feel a little upset. She was hoping that Christmas at the Kent farm would mean that Tyler and Robert would be good but so far they had each gotten in trouble seven times. It wasn’t a good thing. It most likely came from Oliver spoiling them all the time but she couldn’t blame her husband for that. They both had him wrapped around their little fingers. She hoped that wouldn’t happen with their next child, though there was a chance it would, knowing her husband.
Hugging Shelby and giving him a smile she was surprised when a camera flash went off. Looking up she saw Oliver standing several feet away, camera in hand, a big smile on his face.
“You look beautiful,” He said pulling her up so he could hug her.
“Well I don’t feel that way.” Chloe complained, “I hate being pregnant again. We need to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
“Oh baby.”
“Don’t baby me. It’s Christmas and I always have a piece of Mrs Kent’s peanut brittle but I can’t this year cause someone knocked me up.”
“Well I’d apologise for being allergic to peanuts but I don’t think it’s my fault.”
Chloe raised an eyebrow, “Fine. Now discipline our daughter, again. If this keeps up we’re taking away all their toys away then I’m hiding them somewhere you won’t be able to find them and give them back.”
“Ok ok. How about you take a load off and I’ll discipline Ty,” Oliver said kissing her lightly. “Robbie’s out with Lois, Clark and Johnny riding the tractor. So sit down, take a load off, Ty and I will join you after we talk and we’ll watch a Christmas movie before dinner, ok.”
“You’re too sweet,” Chloe replied.
“I know. I’ll even bring you hot chocolate.”
“With extra chocolate.”
“Yep.”
“And lollies.”
“Yep”
“And Chips and candy canes.”
“Ok, now let me go and discipline our child,” Oliver replied.
Watching him leave she couldn’t help but smile at the perfect life they had. Sure both their children didn’t like hearing the word no and their father didn’t like to give it to them but they weren’t overly bad kids. Tyler was five and would be heading to school in the middle of next year. Her blond hair was curly and her eyes matched her father’s preciously. She was a little small for her age so they had made the decision to hold her back a year. It had been hard but they had managed. When she was born they had planned to call her Bella but when Chloe had seen her she knew that wasn’t her name. It was a sense she had. It meant that they needed to come up with a new name and when Lois mentioned that she always wanted to call her boy Tyler that Chloe realised that it was the perfect name for her daughter. Of course there was a bit of a fight with Lois to get it but when Clark said he always thought they’d name their boy after his father, Lois said she was ok with it. Then Chloe added her own touch and that was how Tyler Lois Queen had gotten her name. While they both knew that there could be some teasing over the fact that she had a boy’s name, they also knew that it was a better name then some of the other celebrities had given their children.
Three years after Tyler was born they had Robbie. Robert Arthur Queen. Oliver had wanted to call him Connor but Chloe had stood firm in wanting to name their first born son after Oliver’s father. In the end Oliver had caved only after she agreed to have his middle name as Connor. Then there had been an incident with Lex and AC had rescued her, taking her straight to the hospital before calling Oliver and he had stayed by her side until Oliver had arrived. When they welcomed Robbie into the world they had discussed it at length and had changed his middle name in honour of his superhero uncle.
This time was different though. They had said they were done having kids. They had one of each that was more than enough but after a night at another one of Bruce’s parties, Oliver’s caveman tendencies had come out and 3 months later she had realised she was pregnant. Now she was planning on having him snipped so it wouldn’t happen again but so far he hadn’t agreed to that. She knew he would cave soon, especially when he realised that it meant more diaper changes and five am wake up calls.
Turning to the television she switched it on and smiled when she stumbled across the Santa Claus movie. Laughing as Tim Allen tried to figure out what was happening to him she reached out her hand, as if knowing that Oliver had entered the room. Clasping her hand around the cup she smiled as her daughter curled into her side and Oliver sat on the other side, his arm extending around the pair of them. Taking the lollies he offered she leaned over and pressed a light kiss to his cheek.
“Thanks,” she whispered as Tyler laughed at the movie.
“That’s ok.”
Curling into the pair of them she laughed at the movie until it was over. It was rare that they found quite moments like this when they were at the Kent farm but she also knew that Robbie was safe with Clark. It felt nice at this time of year to relax but she also knew that Christmas dinner would be coming up soon and that would be chaotic with three kids and her being pregnant.
“Merry Christmas all,” a voice called as the door.
“That’s not,” Chloe said turning to Oliver.
“I think it is,” Oliver replied with a nod.
“Grandma Kent! Grandma Kent! Your here!” Tyler cried, jumping up from her place on the lounge and running over to the door.
“Hi muffin,” Chloe heard Mrs Kent greet her daughter as Oliver stood and helped pull her off the lounge.
Walking to where they were she could greet Mrs Kent Chloe couldn’t help but smile. There whole family was here now and the only way it could get better was if her father was able to stay for more than the hour he could.
Hugging Mrs Kent she asked, “How was the flight?”
“It was good. How was your flight? Is the little one treating you ok?”
“Better than the first two,” Chloe joked, “The fight was fine, it just felt very long.”
“I bet it did.” Martha said with a smile, “And the baby is?”
“Were not finding out the sex this time,” Oliver said, “We’ve got one of each. Why not let this one be a surprise?”
“Well that’s no fun,” Martha complained.
“That’s what I said,” Lois said, standing in the opened door.
“Lois,” Martha replied opening her arms and hugging her, “How’s my favourite daughter in law? And where is one of my favourite grandsons?”
“I’m fine. Your grandson is with your son and he and Robbie are going to see the back forty before dinner. They should be back any minute.”
“Great and where’s dinner?” Martha asked moving into the kitchen, carrying Tyler as she went.
“It’s in the fridge we just have to reheat it.” Chloe said, taking a seat at the stool at the counter.
“The cheats Christmas dinner,” Martha said with a nod, dropping Tyler on the counter, “Well I’ll make some pies.”
“It’s ok,” Oliver replied, “I already took care of it. I can actually cook.”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever hotshot,” Lois scoffed as Clark came through the door with the boys.
“Daddy!” Robbie cried, launching himself into Oliver’s arms as he came through the door, “Andma’s ere.”
“Yes she is,” Chloe said reaching over to ruffle his hair.
“Ok now that everyone’s back what do you say to heating dinner and eating?” Martha suggested, beginning to pull things out of the fridge.
“I second that motion and will be sitting at the table waiting for my lovely husband to bring me dinner,” Chloe said standing.
“I second Chloe’s motion,” Lois said, plucking Johnny from Clark’s arms and following Chloe to the table.
Seeing her cousin act maternal was a little weird for Chloe. She had never thought that it would happen so quickly but after being engaged for three years they finally found time to marry. It was a beautiful, intimate ceremony where Clark was actually able to be there long enough to get married and sign the papers before being called away on Superman business. That had made Lois very happy. He’d even made it back in time for their grand entrance at the reception and for most of the night, Oliver and Bart covering whenever anybody needed help. Three months later they had visited Chloe and her family in Star City, bringing the news that they were pregnant. Six months later Jonathon Peter Kent was welcomed into the world. It made Robbie only a year older than him, which Lois seemed to like more than she did. Chloe was just glad that the boys were growing up in separate states and wouldn’t be able to terrorise teachers together. She also knew that Lois wanted to have another kid but she knew that Lois was worried about what powers would manifest and how hard it would be to manage with more than one child.
As far as Chloe was concerned her children could act as Lois’s children at any time she wanted them too. She welcomed it in fact, especially if it brought more time for her and Ollie to be alone.
“So how have you really been?” Lois asked.
Chloe nodded, “Ok. My back and feet might not agree with me but that’s ok, I’m ignoring them.”
Lois laughed, “I wish that I was that carefree when I was pregnant.”
“I have the advantage. This is my third time doing this.”
“True,” Lois nodded as the boys began to bring in the food.
“Robbie, Ty, come sit at the table, please.” Smiling as the two children rushed into their seats, sitting quickly.
Looking around the room she smiled as her family filled the room. Clark pulled Lois into his arms and spun her under the mistletoe for a kiss while Martha finished piling the table with food. Oliver leant over Robbie’s plate as he cut up the turkey their son had decided to place there and Tyler grabbed at the dinner rolls, handing one to Johnny that he promptly began to rip to pieces. They may not be traditional but they were all hers and this time next year they would be ringing it in with the newest member of their crew.
Grabbing the phone as it beeped she smiled as she read the message from Dinah. “Oh my God, Bruce has finally done it. He knocked up Dinah,” she cried for the table to hear. As cheers rang out around the room Chloe couldn’t help but think that this time next year they were going to have to convince those two to come out of their love nest and join them.
