Much belated update! also: who wants to go see the Eagle?

Dear Livejournal,

Since last we spoke, I have:

1. Finished my dissertation and graduated! Woo, I am Dr. Me! (Alternatively: Me, PhD.)

2. Moved to NYC for my postdoc! ...sometimes when I think about this, I am kind of impressed with my guts. Also: very very lucky that my family is supportive!

3. Been v. busy. Dear academia: why so difficult? SIGH.

Re: item 1, Oh. Oh! Then was I way off-base on Saturday? Had you finished all of the research we talked about way back in . . . er, October? Whoops.

Nope, you were on target! Items 1 and 2 are realllllly belated--I finished and moved about a year ago. IIRC, in October we were talking about the new research I'm doing here for my postdoc, the stuff on social support. :) Also, I'm still working on research on the topics I was working on in grad school, so even that stuff isn't "finished" per se! It... it never really ends, I guess? Research questions don't seem to become research answers, instead they become improved understanding and new questions. ;)

The Eagle was so enjoyable--I can totally see that this is going to be an Eagle fic reading weekend! And looook, you have fic! :)
