Case File #2 ☁ [video]

[When the SFC turns on, you're greeted to a close-up of Ema's left eye. She sets the device down and steps back, with a grin on her face that's more than a little proud. Her goggles are on and she's wearing a pair of latex gloves; she's holding a white spray bottle and in one hand and what appears to be a white shirt in the other (bandaged) hand. ( Read more... )

While your possession of a blooded shirt is somewhat concerning, I am pleased to find another as interested in the sciences.

Now you're speaking my language. What's your field of study?

There is no need to limit my field of study. I wish to know everything.

A modern-day Renaissance man, huh? Not many people set their sights that high.

!

[Staring in fascination is a very grumpy swordsman. But he definitely doesn't wanna admit he's fascinated, no sir.]

Tch... The hell would you use it for, anyway?

For evidence, of course! You can't conduct a proper investigation without evidence.

...Tch. I see.

[Slowly trying to prod for more information without sounding interested.]

That's crazy. And you say you have other tools like that?

[His tone is grumpy and incredulous. He clearly won't believe it til he sees it.]

[No need to worry, Kanda. Showing just a tiny bit of interest is all it takes.]

I sure do. True, some aren't quite as flashy as the luminol, but they're every bit as useful.

... I don't think cutting your hand was necessary for that test.

...that part was just a coincidence. Actually, it's what inspired me to do the demonstration in the first place.

Oh. [He doesn't seem perturbed by this. He just cocks his head to the right.] Why?

I had a bit of an accident with some broken glass, and this shirt was all I had on hand to clean up the blood. I was about to get rid of it when it hit me: why throw it out when it could be used for science?

[Wolfram stares at her.]

And why the hell is this so important?

Luminol is an essential tool in crime scene investigations, thank you very much.

Okay, so you find the presence of blood in someone's clothes. Big deal. Why would you want to know that?

Plenty of reasons. If there's been a crime and the criminal had the foresight to clean up after himself, how else would you find any evidence?

[Oh, if only she could reach through the SFC and scratch behind her ears.]

I'd let you try it out for yourself, if I could. Then again, you can probably sniff out all sorts of things that luminol couldn't pick up.
